  1. What did you want to do?

I tried doing many things in life, though I never had a clear vision of what I want to do. When I was a child I tried many activities, and the moment I had enough I simply left the course. I had full cooperation at home; I was allowed to leave and move on, sometimes immediately, to the next thing. This developed the pattern of non-completion, which I finally managed to break, out of a conscious decision, at the age of 33. And, the grand prize went to Footwear Design studies.

Many of my friends are artists, mostly musician and performers. They knew what they want to do from a very young age, while I was standing there, thinking – What will I do when I get older – and, nothing.

This ‘nothing’ had sent me searching for many years. When I was 18 I studied the art of Make-up for TV & Film. It was my first profession, before it was abandoned, like most of them. After the army I’ve had all kinds of odd jobs, to name a few:nanny, store saleswoman – from booksto carpets, stall vendor, bartender, waitress, production, travelled quite a lot and also lived for short periods in some of the places… and, still, nothing came to mind.

I got many good feedbacks for almost anything I ever did, but I never followed through. Like with the Footwear; I won a design competition for Israel’s 60th Independence Day. Two of my designs were manufactured and sold, quite successfully too, but I learned I lack the competitiveness needed to proceed, so I left it behind. Along the years I filled my‘sack’ with all kinds of information, gathered along the way.

  1. What do you do today?

These days I’m mostly a nanny, and have one semester left for my Translation studies, Diploma studies. I’m actually going to have an academic diploma just before I turn 40, who would have thought… I chose Translation after Africa.

In 2010 I travelled to Africa. First to Angola, for six months of volunteering at an orphanage, and continued straight to Uganda, for another four months of managing a local staff at a high-end restaurant. Two very different experiences in the same continent… after which I came back to Israel.

I really wanted to keep moving, I thought of Australia, and then I thought – What will I do there, I didn’t want to find myself staying thereillegally, or standing behind a bar at the age of 38… And then I thought – why not do something with my writing. When I was in Africa I wrote a few posts, and was humbled by the responses I got. I thought translation could be good for me, and before I knew it I was committed to a two-year program. Today I’m very pleased. Translation is a fascinating profession, and a real good challenge for the brain.

  1. What is your dream these days?

I still don’t know. As I see it, life’s a journey – not a destination.  Mainly, I just want to live my life without the need to run all over the place in the name of survival,  to raise my unborn children so that they’ll walk their own path in full faith, even when it’s different than others.
