N, Widow, mother of two
What did you want to be when you were a child?
I grew up in a small two-bedroom house with a family of 10. It was crowded but good. Mother and father worked very hard for the household livelihood. I managed to stay in school for 7 years, and then I had to go help in the fields. We cultivated vegetables. All dreams ended there. I've worked with them for 35 years.
What would you like to do today?
Today, I'm at home. I cook for the kids, clean, embroider. My husband died 3 years ago. We only met when I was 41 years old. There were others who came before him, but they all lacked the charm. He was my lucky charm. We were good friends, we went to Mecca together, and spent our day-to-day together.
What is your dream?
I have no more dreams for myself. I only have dreams for my kids, I hope they'll study. I read the Quran, I learned how to cope with people, and I realized that at the end of the road there's a graveyard for us all. Meanwhile, I just keep embroidering. I just finished a beautiful purse, I'd be very happy if someone would buy it. There, that's my dream, that people would by the things I make.
