אני גר באסן בגרמניה. אני סטודנט, ויש לי עכשיו חופשה מהלימודים. זו כבר פעם שניה שאני מגיע לישראל. הפעם באתי לבקר חברים שהכרתי בפעם הקודמת.
אני לומד עבודה סוציאלית כדי לעזור לאנשים בקהילה. אני חושב שאכפתיות קהילתית היא קודם כל פוליטית. יש הרבה ענייניים פוליטיים בתוך הקהילה. זה קשור לסיבה שגרמה לי לבוא לישראל מלכתחילה. ההסתכלות שלי על הקהילה היא רחבה, קשורה למנגנונים בהיסטוריה. אני עוזר לאנשים בקהילה שאבידו את המשפחה שלהם. כדי להבין את זה לעומק, אני מתחבר להיסטוריה של העם הגרמני. אני לומד על השואה, על רדיפת היהודים ומבין למה נוסדה מדינת ישראל.
כרגע ירושלים אבל בעתיד הייתי רוצה להגיע לאינדונזיה וויאטנם. כבר הייתי בתאילנד, וזה עשה לי חשק להכיר עוד מאסיה.

Where do you come from?
I live in Essen, Germany. I'm a student and it is vacation time now. This is my second time in Israel. This time I came to visit friends that I met on my previous trip.
Why do you travel?
I study Social Work to help people in the community. I think that communal caring is primarily political. There are many political issues within a community. It's related to the reason that made me come to Israel in the first place. My outlook on the community is wide, related to historical mechanisms. I help those members of the community who lost their family. To get a deeper understanding of this, I connect to the history of the German people. I study about the Holocaust, about the persecution of the Jews and I understand why the Jewish State was formed.
What is your next destination?
Right now, Jerusalem, but in the future I'd like to go to Indonesia and Vietnam. I've already been to Thailand, and that left me with a taste for more of Asia.
