  1. What did you want to be?

Only in retrospect can I see the whole picture. From day one, what I wanted more than anything else was to be a musician. I wasn’t able to understand then but memories from my childhood show me that my direction was music and only music.

Picture # 1 From a very young age, I remember sitting on the couch at home, watching television, almost in tears, seeing children my age participating in the song festivals. I told my mother “I want to do that”. “That” was the whole musical happening, without defining singing or playing.

Picture # 2 The same urge to do “that” reoccurred in grade two. I began learning to play the recorder but a month before the year end I “retired”. When the other children appeared on stage, playing what they had learned, I again felt the desire to be among them, to play with them.

Picture # 3 I have more memories than I can recount. For example, those days in grade five when I learned to play the accordion. I dragged my father’s gigantic 120 bass instrument in a baby carriage to and from my lesson, more than a kilometer in the moshav, because I was afraid of a ferocious dog (so I thought) who was on the short path. I would get to the lesson puffing and panting. This went on several years.

Picture # 4 You could say that any and every musical piece I heard, I would remember and never forget, music from my mother’s American records, someone playing the guitar, whistling a song I heard again and again, a chance meeting with a group of kids at Lake Kineret. I saw them sitting there, playing guitars. They taught me a few chords and I joined them. I went home with a passion to write songs on my own. Guitar, I learned independently.

I was sure that the songs I wrote were the best ever. I am no different today. Whatever I write I adore.

  1. To ask what you do today is superfluous?

I am a fulltime musician, creating in many directions.

I teach music in a democratic school system. I bring music to children. When I was young I didn’t have anyone to play music with. I sat hours playing on the moshav’s piano, feeling alone. Music would take me to places where I felt good. Bringing children together to play music with one another is my way, my commitment.

I write music for theatre, for plays, for programs, for computer games and more.

I write songs. It just comes out of me like a flowing spring. Today when I came home from my daily walk, I had ten different song beginnings in my mind.

  1. What is your next dream?

This is connected to my aspiration, as, only of late, as my way develops, have I become a friend with my aspiration, have I accepted it.

Over the years, I found it difficult to accept that music is my way in life. I always asked myself, “why am I not in Hi Tech or something else”. Only during the past few years, as I approached 45, did the bell ring. I understood that music is what I want to do, what I must do, what I love doing. This and nothing else!

My dream is to continue doing the whole creation, the text, the writing, the execution of my songs, that they be performed and not just be mine. They are my truth, the truth of life.
