מה רצית להיות?
כשהייתי קטן גרנו בכפר בבולגריה. יום שמש אחד ישבתי עם אחי על המדרכה ברחוב. אני הייתי בן 4 הוא בן 12, והוא הקריא לי סיפור על גיבור בשם ‘משקו’, ילד בן 8 שלוקח מטוס לאפריקה. שם הוא רואה שה’כושים’ תפסו ילדה יפה, והם הולכים לבשל אותה, ‘משקו’ יורד עם המטוס ומציל אותה.
אמרתי לעצמי אז, שיום אחד כאשר אהיה בן 8, גם אני אקח מטוס. זה נגמר בכך שהייתי מכונאי מטוסים בחיל האוויר ואחר כך מהנדס מכונות.
מה אתה עושה היום?
כמה דברים. אני עוסק בחינוך, מפתח מודלים חינוכיים ומדריך מורות ומורים בבתי ספר, ובנוסף אני מנסה לקדם שיתוף אזרחים בקבלת החלטות ברמה לאומית.
ויש עוד משהו, שזה קשור לגיל 3 וגם לדבר הבא – אני חולם להעביר את התרנגולות בארץ מלולי סוללה, ללולי חופש. הקמתי עמותה למטרה הזאת.
בגיל 3 היו לנו בחצר 2 תרנגולות של בעל הבית, ואהבתי לשחק איתן. יום אחד אחת נעלמה, שאלתי ‘איפה היא’ ואמרו לי שעשו ממנה מרק.. אמרתי שאני לא אוכל את החברים שלי, מאז אני צמחוני ומטפל במיליוני תרנגולות.

What did you want to be
When I was a child, we lived in a small village in Bulgaria. One sunny day, I sat with my brother on the sidewalk; this was before there were cars. I was 4 years old and he was 12. He was reading me a story about a hero called “Meshko”, an 8 year-old boy, who flies (inset space here) a plane to Africa. When he reaches Africa, he sees a beautiful girl that was caught by black people who intend to cook her. “Meshko” rescues her with his plane.
I told myself then that one day I would be an 8 years old, and I too will have a plane. Following this dream I became an aircraft technician in the Air Force and afterward, I learned mechanical engineering.
What do you do today
I work in education, develop educational models and teach educators in school how to implement the models. I also promote participation of citizens in the national decision-making.
There is one more thing that I also dreamt of at the age of 3. My dream is to get laying hens out of the battery cages (no need for comma) to free range. I founded an organization which promotes this goal. When I was 3 years old, there were two chickens in the yard and I played with them. One day one of the chickens disappeared. I asked ‘Where is it?’ The answer was: we made soup with it. Since then, I promised myself that I would never prepare soup with one of the ingredients being a friend, and I have been a vegetarian ever since, taking care of millions of chickens.
